Netflix Wants YOUR Art for Their Mailers

Check out how you can see your own artwork on the bright red envelope the next time you get a DVD…

Netflix announced this week that they are opening up their envelopes to artwork this fall–and they want you to submit your designs! Think about it–you could design the next Netflix mailer!

We’ll be sending these mailers nationwide during September and October. Themes like back-to-school, fall, and Halloween are all fair game.

There are some key things to keep in mind. For example, the envelope is–and will be–red. Your design can therefore be red, white, and black, and use grey scale for tones. So don’t submit a design that must use 4 color process or other spot colors. At least not if you want to be selected.

This is printed material, so your design should be vector format or 300 dpi, or if submitting old-school, create your drawing on a white background.

And, the design should be generic enough to work with any movie. No copyrighted images or specific characters. HOWEVER, the theme itself is open. Like silly? Go for it! Into scary? Boo-tiful choice. Reflect the season or a favorite past-time.

Also remember the size of the envelope (7.75” x 5.635″) and the mailing/bar code areas. These will not change to accommodate your design–you have to work around these details.

Deadline: midnight, May 16, 2016 (Pacific time)

Oh, and you must be 18 years old to submit an entry, which can be done either by mail or electronically.

Have fun, relax, put your Netflix mailer designing hat on…and chill…

But don’t bank that money yet…there is no word on any payment for your work.
